Thank you
ATARItoday presents a collection of freeware software and source code.
Cadenza Software Prior to launching ATARItoday, Matthew (aka Cadenza Software) used to write software for the ST/Falcon030. Following the closure of Cadenza Software in January 2000 due to lack of development time, Matthew released his entire back catalogue as freeware (including the HiSoft BASIC source code!).
Algorithmic Compositional Tool ACT was a program that I developed as part of my dissertation during my final year at University (I received First Class Honours and a commendation for it so it must have been OK ;-) ). ACT generates random musical output which can be controlled in real time using a GEM interface or via a MIDI source. The output can also be saved in MIDI file format.
Atari Personal Organiser An integrated package comprising of five Cadenza programs. There's a diary, notepad, calculator, clock and address book.
AutoClock A friendly GEM based program which lets you set the time and date (reads system time at boot-up). If running on a multi-tasking OS, it can also display a clock on screen using GDOS/SpeedoGDOS fonts and has an alarm facility which alerts you with the message of your choice. The time in other countries/cities may also be viewed. Fully Y2K compatible!
Cover Disk Copier Backup your Atari magazine cover disks with this quick and easy- to-use utility.
Cadenza Address Book An easy to use Address Book with a fast search & sort facility displayed in a compact GEM shell. If you need a powerful yet easy to use address book, look no further.
"One of the best address books ever written" Floppyshop PDL.
Calc IT A handy ACC based calculator. It offers a variety of functions including... +, -, x, /, M+, MR etc. and is ideal for everyday needs.
CD Player A useful utility with a compact GEM interface that allows you to use your CD drive to play your audio CD's.
ENCHANT The ENhanCed Hisoft ApplicatioN toolkiT (ENCHANT) represents the many years of HiSoft BASIC programming experience of its authors, Paul Jones and myself. Over the years we have suffered (lack of sleep mainly!) and learnt a great deal. ENCHANT provides you with immediate access to this experience, without the pain!
ENCHANT consists of a few hundred routines (over nine thousand lines of source code), the result of many months of development. ENCHANT includes a brand NEW GEM Toolkit (providing support for non-modal dialogs, flydial dialogs and alerts, modern radio buttons and check boxes, popup menus etc.). All you need to do is request the routine from within your own source code, all the complicated stuff is done for you.
A real must for any HiSoft BASIC programmer!
EncrypSTer EncrypSTer uses a new encryption algorithm developed for ENCHANT. The new algorithm uses a 256-bit key (user definable) to encrypt any file. If you want to send important information to other Atari users across the internet... you'll need EncrypSTer :)
LockOUT An ACC based password protection system. Type in any password when you leave your desk. A dialog will pop up requesting that the password be entered. Short of rebooting, nobody will be able to gain access to your machine in your absence. Enter the same password to 'unlock' your machine. LockOUT is multi-tasking friendly. After five attempts LockOUT will freeze the machine and prevent a reboot!
Password Password is a simple Auto folder program which requires a password to prevent booting of the machine. Place it first in the Auto folder and you won't be able to continue the boot process (let alone reach the Desktop!) until the correct password has been entered. Simple, but effective!!
Print IT v1 Useful program for printing out ASCII text files. It supports the use of headers, footers, lines per page, page numbering, pages to be printed, number of copies, margin settings and more. It even lets you use the built-in fonts in your printer. An Epson printer driver is supplied as standard but YOU can edit the ESCape codes to suit your own printer.
Print IT v2 PlayBACK (DA version) It lets you send the required control codes to the printer. You will need to have (or create) a printer driver appropriate to your printer using a text editor or Print IT V2. After that it's a case of selecting the required functions from the list of those available.
TicTacToe This is an excellent noughts and crosses game (if I may so myself!), multi-tasking friendly and lets you play against a friend or the computer (a worthy opponent I promise you!).
"Perhaps the best game of noughts and crosses you'll ever play!" Floppyshop PDL
Web.Wizard v3.10 If you wish to create and maintain Web pages using your Atari computer, the Web.Wizard HTML suite is hard to beat. No knowledge of HTML is required!
The suite contains three programs; Web.Page Wizard, Table.Wizard and Frame.Wizard (all with ST-Guide online support). Using an improved GEM (non-modal) interface, each wizard guides you through the process of creating great looking web pages.
The Web.Wizard HTML suite also includes a collection of copyright free images, A-Z of HTML 3.2 commands, HTML stripper/link checker and an easy-to-follow Beginners Guide to HTML tutorial series.
HiSoft BASIC source code If you write software using HiSoft BASIC, these archives offer a wealth of experience and should be considered a must!
The source code is organised by author.
